March 17, 1932 – February 24, 2020

Beloved husband and father Richard Eugene Harden, “Dick”, 87, of San Marcos, CA, formerly from  Munroe Falls, OH, passed away February 24th, 2020.

Dick is survived by his wife Marsha S. Harden. They were married in November, 1953, in Norfolk, VA, and were still holding hands until he passed over 66 years later. He is also survived by his daughter Vicki Harden, son Daniel Harden (Mardea) son Lewis Harden (Susan), son Matthew Harden (Deborah), and daughter Rebecca Harden Adams (Jonathan). He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and their spouses and many great-children, as well as other family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all of them.

Dick was born March 17, 1932, and was raised in Toledo, OH. Dick and Marsha moved to Munroe Falls in 1964. They raised a happy family there. They then moved to San Marcos in 2001. Even so, Dick was an Ohio boy in his heart.

Dick served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1954. He then became a radio and television engineer until he retired. In his retirement, Dick went back to college and graduated from Kent State University in Kent, OH with a degree in theater. He was proud he finished college 50 years after he had graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo. He participated in community theater around the Akron area and in the San Marcos area. He enjoyed photography, soccer, backpacking, camping, movies, and travel as well as many other interests.

A memorial service for Dick Harden will be held March 13th, 2020, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the San Marcos Lutheran Church, 3419 Grand Ave, San Marcos, CA. Pastor Karla J. Halvorson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the COPD Foundation.
